Service as a Tool of Recovery

Al-Anon groups are created, organized, and run by members. Service positions can include Chair, Literature, Treasurer. In Zoom meetings there’s often a tech-host. Each group decides what they need.

Being a Sponsor to another member is service. So is sharing at a meeting, or simply showing up.

Service at the Group level

Once we’ve been going to meetings for a while and experienced some of the benefits of Al-Anon, doing service at NYC Intergroup (or our local District or Area) takes us to a larger space in recovery.

We work with others. We grow in our program and in our lives. We practice recovery within the safety of the 12 Traditions.

Service beyond the Group level
