What is Intergroup?


  • The Al-Anon Family Intergroup of Greater New York Inc., (“Intergroup”) is New York City’s Al-Anon information center.

What does Intergroup do?


  • Intergroup provides vital services to New Yorkers in the five boroughs of New York who are affected by the family disease of alcoholism.

These services include:


  • Providing information about Al-Anon on line and by phone.
  • The Intergroup phone line is often the first contact for those seeking help from Al-Anon in the NYC area.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date listing of all Al-Anon meetings in New York City.
  • Coordinating Alateen, public outreach and speaker referrals to prisons, hospitals, schools, and treatment centers.
  • Selling conference-approved literature.
  • Coordinating communication between all of the different meetings in NYC through its system of Intergroup Representatives (“IRs”).
  • Bringing together members through Share-A-Days, dances and other activities.
  • Providing opportunities to do Al-Anon service above the group level.
